Pimpin' Horus Bio

Pimpin’ Horus play funk-rock music, inspired by the likes of Hendrix, The Meters, P-Funk, the Chili Peppers and the Cruel Sea.

Since 2008, they have played festivals, won “Best Live Video” in a national competition, and played multiple partnership events and secured ongoing sponsorship from premium beverage companies.

They have received airplay in various States and toured throughout Australia on the back of their EPs “Down for the Money” (2009) and “House of Horus” (2010), both of which received solid reviews in several print and online sources.

They will shortly be refuelling the tour van to spread the word a little further in 2011.

"Down for the Money" Reviews

"There’s something different about this promising five-piece funk-infused bunch...The arrangement of each song and the EP as a whole has been constructed very carefully, and as a result it really is a joy to listen to."
          - Ashley Prigent, DB Magazine  (Read the full review at dbmagazine.com.au)

"This is a very strong EP full of energy, funk and a big sound. There is no filler or throwaway moments as all six tracks are solid offerings."
          - Richard Rowe, Tomatrax Magazine  (Full review available at tomatrax.wordpress.com)

"Pimpin' Horus will have even the most rhythmically challenged funking in their chairs...a psychedelic blast back to the late 70s"
          - Hamix Cox, MusicSA

"House of Horus" Reviews

"House of Horus is a great example of what an EP should be; short, to the point and full of strong tracks."
           - Alastair Collins, DB Magazine   (full review available here)

General Reviews

"Think Bill And Ted's Excellent Adventure. Think Encino Man. Think surfer dudes and wastoids populating California's San Fernando with a whacked out valley vernacular...it's all slow-mo rubber band rapping, loping rhythms, spaced out jamming, delivered smooth as fuck and 100% free from paranoia inducing chemicals, additives or preservatives."
          - Spoz  (full review available here)

"These local lads are definitely one of our rising stars and you'd best make it to a gig now, before they're mainstream."
          - Alastair Collins, DB Magazine
